Our Family Pictures

We finally got our family pictures done. I have been wanting to do this for a while now. But I had to convince my hubby ;-). They turned out pretty good with Zoe being up almost all night. But she slept almost the whole way down so I was thankful for that. When we got there she was sleeping and we had to wake her up. We were early and I brought Zoe to the bathroom to go potty and change her clothes into her outfit for the pictures. And when we were walking out of the bathroom I had the door open and telling Zoe to come out and she tripped and hit her head on the door. Yup! That is how it goes. Right before you get pictures done you get a mark on your forehead  that will show up in the pictures...lol...In the beginning Zoe would NOT smile at all. In our family pictures you will see me making weird faces and I am trying to tickle Zoe to make her smile. We finally got 2 family pictures that i like and 2 pictures of Zoe that she was smiling in. On our way home Zoe was out like a light again before we left the city (which is a little over an hour away). When we got home my hubby said that Zoe felt warm. So I felt her head and got the thermometer and I took her temp and her temp was 101.9. Now I feel like I won the worst mommy award of the day. Poor girly wasn't feeling good and I dragged her down to the city for pictures while she wasn't feeling good. So that is our family picture story....Here are the pictures. Click on the "Our Family Pictures" link below to view them. P-9, P-14, P-21, and P-23 are my favorites. Enjoy!

Nigh Night Daddy

I was getting ready for church last night and Alex and Zoe were playing together and all of a sudden it was quiet and Zoe came running to me and telling me "daddy was nigh night". And I came out to this....

She was very proud of herself and put her finger up to her mouth and said "shhhhhhhhhhhh daddy nigh night".      I guess she couldn't find a blanket so she used the towel. She makes us laugh with the stuff she comes up with.

Zoe's trip to the Golisano childrens hospital in Syracuse

Most of you know today Zoe had to get her intestines scoped, a colonoscopy, and a biopsy done.  We had to be there at 8:30 in the morning so that meant I had to leave at 6:00 in the morning to meet up with Alex and then head to the hospital. Zoe was exhausted all day because she was up most of the night because we had to clean her out so we get good test results. And she woke up at 5:00 in the morning and had a blowout so I got up then and cleaned her up and brought her down stairs and put a movie on so I could pack up and get ready and my mom came down to snuggle with her while I was getting ready. Zoe slept most of the way but she was soooooo exhausted and kept asking for "wa wa" (water) but they told me no drink of anything after midnight so I couldn't. It just broke my heart. But when we got to the hospital Alex took her out of her car seat and she had another blowout. So we just wrapped her blanket around her and decided to change her diaper when we got to her room in the hospital. Her nurse's name was Lori and there was another nurse there that wasn't Zoe's nurse but she took to Zoe and thought she was the cutest thing ever (which she is). When we arrived the nurse asked me if she was usually this calm???? And I told her no but I think it was because we had a busy day before and she didn't get a good night sleep because she was up a lot during the night with her getting cleaned out. Well the nurse decided to do a blood sugar test on her foot and Zoe didn't even flinch or cry. Her blood sugar level was 56 so they decided to put the IV in  before procedure. So for sure I thought there was going to be tears. But there was no tears or anything. The doctor and nurses were amazed and said that she was the best patient they had in awhile and that she was even better then the teenager patients. They weighed her before her procedure and she weighs 23 pounds 13 ounces. And then daddy said his goodbyes and gave her kisses and I went with her to the surgery room 5 and they told me they were about to start the anesthesia and they told me I could hold her and she started to say "owwww" and the nurse told me it was the anesthesia going through her IV and so I told her it was ok and she was then fine and stopped and laid there and then I whispered that I loved her over and over in her ear until they told me she was out and that I had to go......then I bursted into tears and the nurse that took to Zoe gave me a hug and told me she knows how stressful it is and that Zoe will be ok and then I went back to Zoe's room and when I saw Alex he hugged me and comforted me and when I went to get Zoe's I bursted into tears again so Alex grabbed them and we went to the waiting room. We waited 50 minutes until Doctor Wali came and said everything went great and that he wanted to talk in the room. Once we went in the room he asked us if she has asthma because she was wheezing. We told him no not that we were aware of. He said her lungs were having a hard time and that they gave her albuterol and that if she didn't stop wheezing he would want to keep her overnight and that they have to wake her up slowly so it will take 10 to 15 more minutes longer for us to see her.  But the good news was that her intestines and stomach looked great and that we should get her biopsy results sometime next week. So we had to wait in the waiting room till she started waking up welllllllllll we waited another 50 minutes until they called us and told us we could see her in her in her room. And when I walked in I could still hear her wheezing and the nurse was sitting there waiting for her to wake up but Zoe was sleeping so hard. We were taking to the nurses and Zoe didn't even move so the nurse asked us to come get her when Zoe woke up. I stayed right by her head so she would see me when she woke up but we waited a little and she was still sleeping so Alex grabbed a chair and told me to sit but when I sat the bars on the bed were in my way so I couldn't see her face so I stood up because I wanted to see her and be there when she woke up. After a little she finally woke up and she had a little smirk on her face and warmed my heart it was so precious.  And I asked her if she wanted some juice and she shook her head yes and I held her sippy cup while Alex got the nurse and when the nurse came in she told me I could pick her up and hold her. I was soooooo excited that I could hold her. She was a very thirsty girl she drank 3/4 of the juice in her cup at that one sitting.  The nurse then checked her lungs and she said her lungs sounded great and that we could take her home. I was soooooooooooooo happy to hear that. So she started discharging her. And we were in our car by a little after 12:45 p.m. She slept the whole way home but woke up once and asked where daddy was and then went back to sleep. When we got back to my parents house she had a couple nibbles of  saltines but she was really enjoying her juice. And I put her favorite movie and and sat her on the recliner and she fell asleep watching it and then she woke up so I snuggled with her and she fell asleep and then I fell asleep but when we both woke up she had more of a appetite and she ate a waffle, a honey bun, and more juice. She was whiny but still very tired so she went to bed early. And that is where she is now.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Zoe all dressed in her gown and her socks the hospital gave her

The nurses gave her toys to play with

But she was too tired to play

Zoe's 2 Year Old Birthday Party!!!

We had a very small birthday party for Zoe a week before her actual birthday. She had so much fun but towards the end she was exhausted and ready for her nap. My parents came in for the party and I am so glad they were there and Zoe loved having them there too. She loves her Papa and Grandma!!! She had so many people there that love her so much. The theme of her party was Cinderella her favorite princess. I love the way she says Cinderella it sounds like  "Lalalalalalalala".  I didn't get a whole lot of pictures because I was busy but I want to share the ones I did get.

Zoe's cupcake. All the cupcakes were vegan because Zoe can't have normal cupcakes because of the egg that is in them. The cupcakes were super easy to make even easier than normal cupcakes and they were so tasty and so moist!!!

 The birthday girl!!!

 Me and My birthday girl!!!

Zoe needed Papa to help her open some of the gifts

One of Zoe's favorite gifts was a little people car that Papa and Grandma got her

Zoe didn't know what to think when all of us were singing "Happy Birthday" to her

Zoe didn't want to blow the candle out so Daddy helped her

Zoe loved having Marissa and Madalyn there

Zoe is not sure what to do with the cupcake

So at first she just picked at the sprinkles and then she eventually ate the frosting then the cupcake

Okay when I said she was exhausted this is what happened. But she wanted to play with her new umbrella that Uncle Doug, Aunt Sarah, Marissa and Madalyn got her. But all I cant think about when I see this picture is that song "It's my party I can cry if I want too"

Potty Training!!!

This is my warning there is yucky picture and you might think I am disgusting. But I am one proud Mama so I have to share so you have been warned!!! Yesterday Zoe told me she wanted to sit on the potty so I took her diaper off and sat her on her potty and she actually went!!! I was so surprised and  happy at the same time!!! She was went a total of four times and had one accident before her nap time. I was thrilled that she just went the one time but when she went four time i knew it was time to buckle down on this potty training thing. After her nap she was not interested at all. I made her sit on the potty and stuck to my guns and she was whining and pretending crying. I have to admit I was getting a little frustrated but I kept telling myself to take deep breaths. Zoe did go a tiny bit so I told her she could go outside with daddy for a couple minutes but she had to come back in after a couple minutes to go potty. Well that was my mistake daddy ended up bring her back in after two minutes outside. Zoe was soaked. I was not very happy. It was time to get ready for church so I put a pull up on her and I was planning on after I had to play the piano to go down to the nursery and put her on the piano. But I totally forgot all about potty training. But when we got home she was only a little wet. So I put her on the potty and she tried telling me "no" but I made her and after a couple minutes she went!!! Daddy was even there and was so proud of her!!! This morning She threw a fit because she wanted her diaper on and I told her no that she is a big girl and needs to go on the potty. Zoe was not happy with me, She kept telling me "no" and was trying to put her diaper on by herself. I told her diapers are for babies and she is a big girl. That seemed to help a little but she still was not happy about it. So I left her bear bottom and stuck with it and she was dry all day!!! I was thrilled at least we are making progress!!! I was expecting more accidents but she did a great job staying dry all morning!!! I did put a diaper on her at nap time and I am so glad I did because she did a B.M.  But I cleaned her up and just reminded her where she goes potty.  And she even told me she goes "pee in the potty". I kept her bear bottom all afternoon so far and she has been running over to the potty all by herself and sitting and going all by herself!! And She actually went over to her potty and did a B.M in it!!! I was expecting her to do a B.M I have been just focusing on the pee so she totally surprised me when I heard her going. The picture below is first B.M in her potty!!!!

Zoe can't believe she did it herself!!!

 My happy potty trainer!!!

While writing this Zoe actually went pee 3 times and had another B.M in the potty!!!

Zoe was dry all day!!! She didn't have any accidents all day!!! I am such a proud Mama!!!

Our 2 year old!!!

Zoe's birthday fell on Easter this year. I can't believe I am a mother of a 2 year old. I remember having a baby and then I blinked and now that baby is 2. Where did the time go??? Zoe is full of personality and when she smiles its so hard not to smile. She is a very happy girl. She is also very bossy but so sweet at the same time. She is very loving and loves to snuggle and gives hug and kisses. She knows a lot of animal sounds and she also know must of her body parts. We are working on colors right now. Of coarse she knows what color pink is. She is a girly girl. She always asks me to put a bow in her hair and she loves shoes like her Mama. She is my mini me. Even Alex says so. Zoe trys to be so independent. Zoe also loves playing outside. We have to go outside every night and look at the stars and moon.

Our 2 year old!!

 I love her smile

 I love her so much

Playing At The Playground!!!

It was a beautiful day on Monday so we thought we would take advantage of the day and bring Zoe to the park. Zoe did so much better this year on the play ground . She still didn't want to go on the swings. And the slides are still not her favorite. But she loved climbing, crawling, and running. She had a blast!! The tunnels are her favorite.

There is so much to do. What to do first???

She loved the tunnels

We are working on how to get out of tunnel but this is the way she did it

Zoe waving to daddy and saying "bye". She was ready for another turn

Zoe quickly found little girls that she can boss around.

Zoe grabbed the girls hand and told her to "sit" and then Zoe sat on her lap and they went down the slide together

So the girls decided to help Zoe with the whole playground

at the end of the tunnels there was a platform and for some reason Zoe thought it was for jumping

The girls were helping Zoe with the telescope

 Having so much fun!!!

Zoe did go down the bigger slide all by herself finally!!! But after she did that once that was enough

After the playground we took a walk around the park

Zoe ran the whole way around the park. But we had to stop and roll up her sleeves and she wasn't happy that she had to stop running for a second

She always had to be in front of us. We tried to walk next to her but she didn't like that

She wasn't happy to  leave. She must have had too much fun!!!

Zoe's 2 year old checkup!!!

I know its been forever since I have updated this blog but the past month and a half has been a blur to me. We have been soooooooo busy and with me and Zoe's medical issues we have been at the hospital and doctors appointments too. I will post more about that later.....Back to Zoe's 2 year old checkup

I can't believe my baby is 2!!! Zoe height is 32 and 1/2 inches and she weighs 22 pounds and 12 ounces. Her Pediatrician was very encouraged with her height. We know she is still tiny but she her weight and height is going up and not strait lining like it was last year. If you know Zoe she is full of personality and her nurse and Pediatrician said that to me.

Zoe feels so at home at the doctors office that every time someone comes in or out of the office she will say hi and bye to them.

Zoe telling me her arm hurt. (we had to do a lead test) The band-aid didn't last long on her arm.

As a reward for her being so good we stopped at McDonald's and Zoe got some fries. She ate the whole medium fry. But the fries didn't get mind off of her boo boo. She was whining still when we got home so i ended up giving her Ibuprofen.

She is my cuddle bug when she is hurt or not feeling good

 She loves her mommy

She can be very dramatic but I still felt bad. I hate needles so I was sympathetic even though it was a small spot.

Mac and Cashew Cheese

I cant remember if I have ever posted on my blog Zoe's favorite Vegan meal. she loves mac and cashew cheese. Its pretty easy to make too. So its a win-win for the both of us. But its very expensive. I paid almost $15.00 for a pound of raw cashews. That is why I don't eat very much of it. But its very yummy.....

First I soaked 1/2 of a pound of raw cashew in water till its just covered. For two hours at least. (I have left it soaking over night and I got the same results)

Then I cook a 1/2 of a pound of pasta fully

While the pasta is cooking I make the "cheese"

I drain the cashews and put the water that they were soaking in a side in a cup. And then I put my cashews in my food processor and add...

2 squeezes of lemon juice
1/3 of the cashew soaked water
1 teaspoons of minced garlic
1 Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste.

I love salty cheese so if it was for me I would have added more then what I make for Zoe

 Then I puree till smooth

Then put the "cheese" in a mixing bowl

Then pour the macaroni in with the "cheese"  and fold it in
And your done!!!

I put most of it in freezable containers but if you are going to freeze it you have to add 2 tablespoons of milk to it (I use almond milk for Zoe) and it helps it not to be so dry when you reheat it.

Zoe so excited about her mac and cashew cheese.

This is serious....
